Carteret NJ DWI Lawyer

According to an nj.com report, Plainsboro police conducted an odd DWI arrest on Tuesday night into early Wednesday morning this week. A twenty-one year old woman allegedly crashed her 2013 Ford Fiesta into a tree alongside Hunters Glen Drive at approximately 12:09 a.m. According to witnesses, the young woman proceeded to get out of the car and left the scene of the accident. However, a short time later, she returned and notified the police that the car was indeed hers ad that she crashed due to texting while driving.

During the investigation, the police suspected the twenty-one year-old to be drunk and charged her with Driving While Intoxicated, Failing to Report an Accident, Failure to Maintain Lane, Destruction of Agricultural Property, and Operating a Motor Vehicle While Using a Cellular Phone.

If convicted of a first offense Plainsboro DWI, she will face a 7-12 month loss of license in addition to steep fines and Intoxicated Driver Resource Center (IDRC). Further, if her BAC is found to have been above a .15%, then she faces the installation of an Ignition Interlock Device following her suspension.

Leaving the Scene of an Accident is another serious motor vehicle offense that is punishable by jail time, steep fines and a six-month loss of license.
