Pre-Labor Day Fatality Results from Old Bridge DWI

Drunk Driver Loses Life Driving Wrong Way Down One Way Street in Old Bridge

According to NJ.com, a recent fatality occurred in Old Bridge, NJ as a result of an automobile accident in which one driver was driving the wrong way down a one way street. Since August 20 tragedy, it has been discovered that the deceased 26-year-old wrong way driver was intoxicated and driving a 2011 Hyundai Tucson that did not belong to her when it crashed into a 200 BMW 323 that evening.

According to her female friend, the driver had been drinking throughout the day at Martell’s Tiki Bar in Point Pleasant, NJ; a popular Jersey shore summer destination before making her way to a bar in Old Bridge off of Route 18. Despite the fact that she had not driven to Point Pleasant earlier that day, she left in a 2011 Tucson similar in color to her own registered Tucson in which the keys had been left in.

Fortunately the other driver in the accident is in stable condition with some broken bones.

When asked about the incident, an Old Bridge detective stated that the roadway is clearly marked.

Unfortunately, this time of year sees an increase in drinking and driving related death in Middlesex County towns like Old Bridge and throughout New Jersey. As a result, there is a wide scale ask force throughout the state in which police agencies will be aggressively patrolling for intoxicated drivers through Labor Day. Avoid Middlesex County and Old Bridge DWI charges this weekend as well as the risk or harming yourself or somebody else. Drive sober or call a cab if you must to stay safe this holiday weekend.
