North Brunswick Man Arrested on Theft, Burglary Charges

According to a patch.com article, after investigating a string of residential burglaries over the last two months, undercover Franklin Township police arrested a North Brunswick man after watching him leave a Franklin Township home. The door to the home had been forced open and officers discovered stolen valuable during the subsequent search.

Edison Township Police worked closely with detectives from Edison, Highland, Park, New Brunswick, and North Brunswick in order to find the alleged burglar. He is currently held in Middlesex County Correctional Facility on $250,000 bail. He has been charged with three counts of burglary in Edison, two counts of burglary in Franklin Township, and one count of attempted burglary in North Brunswick. Additional charges are pending out of New Brunswick and Highland Park.

Burglary is a serious offense in New Jersey and county prosecutors aggressively pursue these cases. It is important to note that a theft need nod actually occur in order for a defendant to be charged with burglary; rather a defendant only need to break into a building without license or authorization with the intent to commit a crime within. Theft crimes may include forgery, shoplifting, and robbery.
