East Brunswick Woman Catches GPS Thieves
According to a recent nj.com article, an East Brunswick woman is responsible for the arrest of four individuals involved in the thefts of GPS devices out of motor vehicles. The woman called the police after hearing a car door slam in the street outside of her home shortly before 1:00 a.m.
She then went outside, observing two people walking away from her vehicle. Noticing that her interior light was on, she shouted at them, at which point they began to run away. The woman continued her pursuit of vigilante justice as she got into her vehicle and chased after the suspects, yelling at them while demanding that they return her GPS immediately. They gave her the GPS back and got into a vehicle. As they fled in their car, their tire struck a curb and flattened. The thieves then proceeded to flee with a flat tire. The woman continued to follow the suspects until their car became disabled as a result of the tire. Police then arrived on the scene.
According to East Brunswick police, “As a result of the investigation two additional victims were identified and the suspects were charged with 3 counts of burglary, theft and possession of stolen property.”
Burglary, theft, and possession of stolen property are each severe crimes, punishable in Middlesex County Superior Court. Thanks to the brave woman, the small GPS theft ring was busted.
