26 Arrested in Middlesex County Heroin Ring Bust

According to NJ.com, on April 23, in a series of pre-dawn raids, New Jersey State Police arrested 26 individuals suspected in taking part in a “sprawling” heroin ring. Authorities seized over $250,000 in heroin, cocaine, and crystal meth from homes in the New Brunswick and Piscataway areas. Additionally, $150,000 in cash was seized along with six guns, body armor, and hundreds of rounds of ammunition.

The well-established drug network has been suspected of supplying Middlesex County and five other New Jersey counties with illicit drugs. A 12-month investigation of the drug ring culminated in the early morning raids during which nobody was injured.

Heroin arrests throughout New Brunswick, Piscataway, and other towns in Middlesex County as well as throughout the state have steadily been on the rise in recent years as increased addiction to prescription drugs such as oxycontin often lead to heroin use, and heroin-related crimes such as possession or distribution of the drug.  The individuals apprehended in the raid will certainly face various charges with likely felony repercussions.
