Cranbury, NJ: Possession and Intent to Distribute Heroin and Driving While Intoxicated

Heroin and DWI Arrest on the NJ Turnpike in Cranbury

According to NJ.com, a couple was arrested for possession of heroin worth an estimated $1750. As a couple fueled their car at the Sunoco station located at the Molly Pitcher rest stop on the New Jersey Turnpike near Cranbury, a gas station attendant found the bag and approached the couple who began to argue over it. The employee then notified the police.

When New Jersey State Troopers arrived on the scene, they found 175 wax paper folds containing heroin along with needles and drug paraphernalia. The couple was then arrested for possession with the intent to distribute. The driver of the vehicle received an additional charge for driving while intoxicated.

The couple will likely be tried in Middlesex County Superior Court for the heroin charges due to the sheer amount of heroin in their possession as well as the state’s stringent prosecution regarding heroin charges. If the driver were simply arrested for a Cranbury DWI, then he would face his charges in the Cranbury municipal court, but under the circumstances the entire case will remain in superior court due to the severity of the offense.
